A Coomera family has been left shaken after four teenagers — both boys and girls — allegedly broke into their home and stole their car in the early hours of Thursday morning (05/03/26).

The incident occurred around 5:00AM on Edwardson Drive, where CCTV captured the events unfolding. Young mum Jenny Parlour, along with her four-day-old newborn and seventeen-month-old child, were asleep inside the home when four youths believed to be between 14 and 16 years old entered the property with their faces covered by balaclavas.

The teenagers were seen walking directly into the home, locating the keys to a Skoda Kodiaq SUV, and calmly exiting the property before reversing the vehicle and driving away. At one point, one of the girls narrowly avoided being struck by the car as she attempted to climb inside while the door remained open.

The mother explained that the family had not suspected anything unusual during the night. With a baby in the home, she said she is often awake and moving around the house, meaning any sounds may have been mistaken for her by other family members.

After stealing the vehicle, the group allegedly threw the baby seats from the back of the car onto the road in Pimpama so all four could fit inside, before taking the SUV for what appears to have been a joyride. The vehicle has since been recovered, abandoned and damaged, confirming fears that it had been taken purely for reckless driving rather than theft for resale or organised crime.

The incident has sparked intense discussion online, with residents expressing shock at how easily the group was able to enter the home.

“I wanted to sit in the front" – idiots 🤦‍♂️ Dylan Peyroux

Others expressed frustration at the growing pattern of youth crime across local suburbs.

“Little a**holes…” Tracey Black
“Do they even know how to drive? What a bunch of idiots. Sorry you’re going through this.” Danielle La'Belle

Some residents questioned how the break-in occurred, prompting the mother to respond publicly to the speculation. Despite the frightening ordeal, many locals rallied around the family with support.

“I’m so sorry, that’s such an invasion of privacy. You must feel so vulnerable so freshly post-partum too. Is there anything the community can do to help?” Morgan Reid

Another resident also reported finding the baby car seats and a daycare bag dumped on the roadside, confirming how the offenders had made room in the stolen vehicle.

Other nearby residents said the same group may have been moving through surrounding streets earlier in the night, with sightings reported in Parkvista around 3:30AM and near Finnegan Way and the IGA precinct around 3:00AM.

The incident has again raised concerns among locals about teenage offenders targeting homes for car keys, a pattern seen across several Gold Coast suburbs in recent years. Police are urging residents to lock doors, secure vehicle keys, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
