A group of young thieves has sparked outrage after stealing Christmas lights from multiple homes in Coomera in the early hours of this morning, leaving families heartbroken and a local mother struggling to explain the loss to her four-year-old daughter.
The incident occurred around 1:30AM on River Meadows Drive, where three males young males were caught on CCTV walking along the street, sneaking into driveways, and removing festive light displays.
According to residents, one of the offenders rode a bike with a large backpack, appearing to stash the stolen decorations, while the others dressed head to toe in black tracksuits entered front yards. The trio reportedly targeted at least three homes, but locals believe there could be more victims yet to come forward.
One resident said her family had spent years collecting the lights and that her children were devastated by the theft.
“With the cost of living the way it is, every cent counts. To have something like this stolen is so frustrating,” she said.
Another neighbour noted one of the offenders had tattoos on his hands and forearms, a skinny build, and wore a large gold watch that caught the light in CCTV footage. All three are described as Caucasian males, likely locals familiar with the area.
The post quickly went viral across Coomera community groups, where dozens of locals expressed their anger and disbelief.

“What f**ing lowlife aholes. I hope karma comes back and bites them on the ass.” Julie Wagstaff
“Absolutely revolting behaviour! To impact Christmas like this, especially for young families, is heartless. Families fight to make Christmas magical, and these grubs just take that joy away.” Kendall Marie
“Little wannabe thugs — their parents will know exactly who they are. Let’s hope they’re made to front up and apologise.” Michelle Brownlee
Several residents also reported similar incidents nearby, including on Lauren Grove and Tutor Street, suggesting the same group may be behind multiple thefts in the area.
